I read this collection of short stories by Mary Gaitskill in college and it profoundly affected by writing, so much so that I wrote about it in the critical introduction (haha) to my senior thesis. Funny, I've never read any of her novels, and I may never.I checked Amazon and the cover looks like it has been tweaked slightly since this edition. Those godawful fonts and rectangles are gone, at least, but I'm not in love with the photo either. They could do better!
